Amanda Ongoing Projects Page
This page is intended to list improvements for AMANDA that are
being worked on, as well as the people who are working on
it. Furthermore, some projects we would like to see in a
near-future version of AMANDA, but that we aren't working on yet,
will be listed here. If you'd like to help us developing AMANDA,
please subscribe to the amanda-hackers mailing list, and tell us
what you'd like to help on.
- Jean-Louis Martineau
is implementing the DUMPER-API, a major rewrite of selfcheck,
sendsize and sendbackup so as to make it easy to support new backup
programs, as well as issuing pre- and post-backup commands.
Status: ongoing work in 2.5.0 snapshots.
- Stefan G. Weichinger has
converted the AMANDA-documentation as well as the manpages to Docbook/XML.
Refer to http://www.amanda.org/docs/
for the current status of this ongoing project. This is an effort to
completely update and overhaul the AMANDA-documentation.
Status: the biggest chunk of work (the conversion) is done, the
polishing (formatting) needs to be finished.
Some older things, there is some uncertainty ...
- Martin Apel has implemented
a new backup strategy, incr-only, similar to no-full,
except that it allows backups to bump to higher incremental levels and
full backups to be scheduled manually (amadmin force).
Status: installed in 2.4.2 and 2.5.0 snapshots (Jan 22, 1999) -> probably abandoned.
- Jens Emmerich is
adding VXRESTORE support to amrecover.
Status: started on May 6, 1998; probably abandoned :-(
- Craig Wiegert
volunteered to change datestamp for timestamp to allow multiple runs
in a day.
Status: started on Apr 30, 1998; probably abandoned :-(
- Dietmar Goldback has
promised to work on fixing amanda so that it will notice if a tapecycle
definition is not compatible with the dumpcycle and the usage pattern.
Status: probably abandoned.
